The end of the baseball season is fast-approaching and, with Club Nationals cancelled, it's looking very different to what we expected. Here’s what our 13U Pirates can plan for in the coming weeks.

13U SUNDAY TRAVEL LEAGUE 

There are now only 3 weekends left in our Sunday Travel league season -

REGULAR GAMES
Sun 13 Mar		Our last two ‘regular’ Sunday games will be a double-header against Hutt Valley Hornets. We have games at 10am and 12pm, at The Hornets Nest (Fraser Park, Lower Hutt). 
PLAY-OFFS
Sun 20 Mar		We’ll head into the play-offs on 20th March. This will likely mean an ‘away’ game for Pirates against either Central (Plimmerton) or The Hustle (Levin). 
CHAMPIONSHIPS
Sun 27 Mar		If we succeed in our play-off game, the Championship Final will be held on Sunday 27th March. Venue TBC.

PLAY-OFFS TEAM SELECTION

Our 13U squad now numbers 14 players, which was ideal for nationals, but too many for one-off games. Given the competition is about to heat up, the Coaches will look to name their most competitive team from amongst our full squad. This means that a smaller group of only 10 players will be named for the Play-off and Championship games. 

Play-off selections will be based on performance across all games this term, as well as player availability. We’ll talk this through with the players on Thursday. We’re also mindful that Covid-19 is now very present in Wellington, and might impact our player availability in the coming weeks.

If your player is not named in the Play-offs games, we understand this might be disappointing and we'd love it if they still came along to support their team-mates. Part of what makes the Pirates club so special is our awesome culture of whānau and support. So please help make some noise! 

SAVE THE DATE | 8 - 10 APR | POSSIBLE TOURNAMENT

In lieu of the Club Nationals tournament, and to wrap up the season with a bang, Wellington Baseball is looking to host a local tournament from 8 - 10 April, at Fraser Park. 

This would be a chance for our full squad to have 3 days of baseball and a super fun way to finish the season before we head over to Winter sports. 

We’re still waiting for confirmation, but please save these dates for now and keep your fingers crossed!
