CANCELLED IN 23/24 SEASON

The Tuesday night Development League is all about kids having fun playing baseball with their friends. It includes a fun Majors game series (for ages 12 - 14 years). Scroll down to find out more.


23/24 SEASON

This summer the Development League runs from 10 October to 12 December. We play every Tuesday (weather permitting) during School Term 4 only.

HAVE-A-GO DAYS

If you'd like to give baseball a try before you register for the season, the first two Tuesday nights (10 & 17 Oct) will be fun ‘Have-a-Go’ sessions. Our coaches will be leading a range of activities to have fun and work on skill fundamentals. Come along from 5pm to have a go!

MAJORS SERIES​

Our Development League baseball 'Majors' series will get underway from Tuesday 24 October!


REGISTRATIONS

The registration fee is $70, and every new player receives a Pirates baseball cap to keep. Register here.

CANCELLATIONS

Tuesday night cancellations will be announced before 3pm each Tuesday on Facebook and the News section on the Pirates Baseball website home page. Coaches will also notify their team What's App groups.

MAJORS (Ages 12 - 14 yrs)

The Majors is for players who are familiar with baseball and want to play more competitively.

Majors develops the full baseball skillset in a game-time setting at a competitive level. Games follow modified rules to keep it fast and fun.​​​​​​​

HOW IT WORKS

TUESDAYS FROM...

5:45pm warm-up

6 - 7pm game time 

FORMAT

  • For ages 12 - 14 years (School Yr 7 - 9)
  • 4 teams (Padres, Dodgers, Giants, Mariners)
  • Max. 9 players per team (i.e. everyone plays)

MODIFIED RULES

  • Batters start with a 1:1 count
  • Players can pitch 3 Innings maximum
  • No walks - on Ball 4, the coach takes over pitching until the ball is hit in play
  • Runners can steal 2nd and 3rd, but not Home
  • Runners only score if they're batted or walked in
  • Batting inning ends after 4 runs are scored

ROOKIES (Ages 9 - 11 yrs)

Rookies are younger players and any kids who are new to baseball and keen to give it a try.

A fun introduction to the game, Rookies is all about learning the rules, developing skills, and growing our younger players.​​​​​​
